Lumberton School District will consolidate

Lamar County, Miss. - Four school’s districts will now be consolidated, including the Lumberton School District.

Tess Smith, Lamar County School District superintendent said, "I hate it for Lumberton. They're a successful school district at this point. They're in the black. There are a lot more districts in the state that have a lot greater disadvantages than Lumberton. I hate that it is coming, but we'll do like we're supposed to and make the best of it."

The Lumberton School District will be dissolved no later than July 1, 2019.

Lumberton students will either go to Poplarville or Lamar County School districts by August 2019.
