HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The city of Hattiesburg recognized National Bike to Work Day Friday. Mayor Johnny Dupree signed a proclamation that acknowledges the benefits of bicycling.

The city's message is to raise awareness of healthy lifestyle habits, while promoting safety between motor vehicles and cyclists on the road.

City Representative, Lakeylah White said, "It promotes healthy living. Here in Mississippi we have one of the highest obesity rates in America."

White hopes this awareness will bring obesity rates down.
