Jones county escaped inmate back in custody

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

After several days of investigating and trailing the whereabouts of Ellis Lee Ishee, the Jones County Sheriff’s Department now has him back in custody. Ishee, who was in custody on misdemeanor charges at the Jones County Adult Detention Center, walked off a work detail on May 8, 2016.

On May 17, 2016, Jones County Investigators received multiple calls in reference to Ishee’s location. It was determined he had been seen in Covington County at the residence of a female acquaintance. With the help of the Covington County Sheriff’s Department, Ishee’s female acquaintance was made aware of the need for Ishee to return to the Detention Center.

After feeling the pressure, Ishee contacted Mike Godwin, a Jones County Corrections Officer and turned himself in. He was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center the morning of Thursday, May 19, 2016.

Because Ishee’s charges at the time of him walking off of the detail were misdemeanors, his newest charge of Escape is also classified as a misdemeanor.
