The Golden Eagles are ready for this year's C-USA Baseball Tournament
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Conference USA Baseball Tournament begins Wednesday and the Golden Eagles are hoping to bounce back after getting swept by Florida International.
Head coach, Scott Berry said, "This has been a very, very strong league this year from top to bottom. I think going into the last weekend is a testament to that when you saw four teams really jumbled right there with a chance to win conference."
Pitcher, Kirk McCarty said "I mean it's always hard to get swept whenever you have a chance to win a conference. But we're an older team, a mature team, so I think it was easy for us to forget about it. We're excited to play again and get another win and get back on a streak."
Infielder, Tim Lynch said, "I think we can win it. We've shown all year that we're one of the top teams in the conference and we're defiantly offensively one of the best teams in the conference, so I think if we just keep that mindset, have that confidence about us, I think that we can win this tournament."
The Golden Eagles are scheduled to play their first game of the tournament Wednesday at 4 p.m. against Old Dominion and if they win, they'll have a chance to face Florida International again on Thursday for a chance at revenge.
The last time the Golden Eagles won a conference championship was back in the 2009-10 season.
