Cohesiveness helps the Golden Eagles win this year's championship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Golden Eagles have won the 2016 Conference USA Baseball Championship after defeating Rice, 3-2.

Head coach, Scott Berry said, "We scored three runs on six hits and we have no errors. Rice scored two runs on ten hits and makes two errors. It came down to a game of really pitching, defense, and timely hitting."

Designated Hitter, Daniel Keating said, "It's a testament to how cohesive we are as a unit because the first two games, our offense really showed up and we lit it up offensively. And then these last two games, our bullpen and our pitching staff had to come through, which they did and I just think it's a testament to our cohesiveness as a team and I just think we're ready for a regional."

Southern Miss will play South Alabama on Friday in the Tallahassee Regional.
