Watts, Hayes receive All-American honors

ELLISVILLE, Miss. - Two Jones County Junior College softball players have been named NJCAA Division II All-Americans.
Outfielder Kalyn Watts is a first-team selection and pitcher Rachel Hayes is a second-team selection.
The two standouts helped the Lady Bobcats to a 50-8 record, an MACJC championship, a Region 23 championship and a runnerup finish in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
Watts, a sophomore centerfielder from Oak Grove, hit .426 with 13 home runs, 51 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. She also had a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Watts was also named All-Region 23 and to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament All-Tournament Team.
Hayes, a sophomore righthanded pitcher from Ocean Springs, went 30-2 with a 1.72 earned run average. In 199 1/3 innings, she allowed 124 hits, walked 52 and struck out 248. She ranked second nationally in victories and fourth in strikeouts.
At the plate, Hayes had a .385 batting average with three home runs and 19 RBIs. She was also named All-Region 23.
Both Watts and Hayes have signed with Southeastern Louisiana University.
