HATTIESBURG, Miss. - U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves issued a permanent injunction Monday, which will allow same-sex couples to have marriages licenses.

No circuit clerk can deny same-sex couples their right to have a marriage license, even if it's in regards of House Bill 1523.

Joshua Generation pastor, Brandiilyne Mangum-Dear said, "We're excited about it. It's a partial victory. We're really proud that he's standing up to his previous decision and standing up for what the Supreme Court said.”

“I'm excited that couples can go into the circuit clerk, get their marriage licenses without being humiliated or having their dignity taken away by a circuit clerk who wants to recuse themselves. They no longer have that right. We have just as much a right to get a marriage license just as any other couple,” said Dear."

Dear said she hopes the ruling will be in effect by July 1.
