Perry co. crash kills 1, injures 2 children

PERRY COUNTY, Miss. - A car crash in Perry county killed a driver and injured two children.

According to MHP spokesman, Brent Barfield a Perry County Beat 3 county tractor was driving north on Highway 15 attempting to turn onto a county road.

Barfield said while the tractor attempted to turn, the driver of a Chrysler van, Debra Sharp, 58 of Leakesville, crashed into the right rear end of the tractor. "The sidearm of a bush hog speared into the cab of the van" said Barfield.

Perry County coroner pronounced Sharp dead at the scene of the accident.

A 6 year-old and 13 year-old passenger were transported to Forrest General Hospital said Barfield.

"Both children sustained minor to moderate injuries" Barfield said.
