Hub City bank robbery

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A bank robbery occurred Monday morning and now has one man behind bars.

Hattiesburg Police said the bank robbery happened at Central Sunbelt Federal Credit Union at Lincoln Road and Broadway Drive.

Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "The caller was able to give us a description of the suspect, which was given out to our officers responding. And based on that, what they said is a Black male entered the bank, did display a hand gun, and then left the business with something. We don't know what he actually took at that time. He was actually located short distance from here at Pine and 49, in the creek actually. And based on the description from the witnesses here at the bank and people in the area that spotted something suspicious and told officers, they were able to locate him."

Traxler said Sammie Pettis, 45, is the suspect and is now in custody.

No one was hurt during the robbery.
