Home invasion in Jones county, authorities searching for suspect

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - The Jones county Sheriff's department is searching for a suspect linked to a home invasion on Tuesday.

Deputies said the incident occurred on Lower Hamilton Road after 2 p.m. The homeowner reported a black male, around 6 feet tall, medium build, was attempting to break into his home.

Authorities added, the suspect was wearing a dark blue shirt with lettering on the front, shorts, and tennis shoes at that time.

The department said when the homeowner confronted the suspect, the suspect shot the victim in the leg and fled the scene on foot heading north.

Authorities said the victim was transported to a local hospital for medical care.
