LAUREL, Miss. - The Laurel Police Department is getting ready to participate in the 33rd annual “National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event.
Laurel Police Officer, Sgt. Shannon Caraway said. "We have a lot of games, we have a lot of information going on about officer safety, about civilian safety. We promote neighborhood watches, we promote drug awareness, we talk about child ID kits, and things to help make the community more safer."
Caraway said the department has been participating in this event for about 15 years.
"We get good feedback, because every year participation goes up. We have a lot of new vendors that want to come out and be a part of what we have going on. We do a lot of great things and it's a good fit for our community," said Caraway.
The event will be on Tuesday, October 4, at Mason Park, from 5-8 p.m.
