JONES COUNTY, Miss. - The following is a press release from Jones County Sheriff's Department.
The Jones County Sheriff's Department is holding its annual Community Day and School Supplies Giveaway Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 10:00am - 2:00pm. The event will be held at 115 12th Avenue in Laurel, the former Crocker's on the Hill location.
School aged children will be able to pick up a free backpack filled with various supplies for the upcoming school year, adults must accompany children. Plus, everyone is invited to dine on free hotdogs expertly grilled by our very own Sheriff Alex Hodge, bottled water supplied by the Salvation Army, ice cold drinks from Raising Cane's and delicious chips from Frito Lay.
Along with the supplies and the food, there will be several informative booths set up from several members of the community; Tillery Dental Clinic, MAGI, Jones County Narcotics Division, Jones County Volunteer Fire Departments and Rescue, The Schafer Center for Crisis Intervention and others.
We thank our volunteers from the Laurel Junior Auxiliary and several high schoolers that serve our community with their hearts and time. This event would not be possible without the generous donations from Howard Industries, Inc.; Channel Control Merchants, LLC; Sanderson Farms; Mississippi Power Company; Burroughs Diesel; and First State Bank.
