FGH releases statement on stabbed victim in St. Martin


HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Forrest General Hospital (FGH) released a statement about one of its employees Monday. A transgender nurse, 25, Dee Whigham was found stabbed at Best Western Motel in St. Martin.

"Whigham, a registered nurse in Hattiesburg, was visiting South Mississippi with friends and co-workers for this weekend’s black rodeo in Biloxi" reported WXXV.

Below is a statement from Evan Dillard, president and CEO of Forrest Health, regarding Dee Whigham:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Dee Whigham as they try to make sense of this terrible tragedy. She will be remembered at Forrest Health as an excellent nurse who was well-loved by her patients. I know Dee will be missed by her co-workers, supervisors, and the Forrest Health family,” said Evan Dillard, president and CEO of Forrest Health.

Jackson county authorities said details of the investigation is still ongoing.
