HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The death of Dee Whigham has shaken locals in the community.

Joshua Generation will be having a meeting Thursday to discuss ways that will prevent similar tragedies from happening again.

Joshua Generation Pastor, Brandiilyne Mangum-Dear said, "The violence has to stop and I believe that a lot of violence is sparked from anger, which is usually rooted in fear."

LGBT member, Kaylee Bradshaw said, "When you have such hateful legislation coming down and such discriminatory bills being passed, it's hard to stay positive and feel comfortable in a state that doesn't necessarily have your best interest in mind."

Brown said she personally has had a good experience in Mississippi and has never been attacked.

Brown also said the first step of LGBT education starts in the work place.

The meeting will be held at Joshua Generation at 6:30 p.m, anyone can attend.
