18-wheeler hits and kills 73-year-old Seminary woman

SEMINARY, Miss. - A pedestrian was struck and killed by an 18-wheeler truck in Seminary Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred on U.S. Highway 49 north of Seminary said MHP Officer Brent Barfield.

Barfield said, "The woman was identified as Patricia Thrash, 73."

According to Barfield Thrash was attempting to cross the highway when the truck tried to avoid her.

"The truck tried to avoid her, but was unable to and overturned into a ditch" said Barfield.

The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and transported himself to Covington County Hospital in a personal vehicle Barfield said.

The accident stalled traffic on the northbound lane for a period of time.
