LAUREL, Miss. - The Laurel Wellness Center hosted a blood drive with United Blood Services Wednesday in hopes to fill the depleted blood supply UBS encountered.
Recently UBS declared an emergency appeal with a less than 24-hour blood supply on its shelf.
Wellness Director Kirk Landrum said, "It is something that we know we have to do."
Each quarter the Wellness Center teams up with UBS to host blood drives, but Landrum said this time its different.
"There is a high need for donation of blood" added Landrum.
The center hopes to raise 23-25 units of blood every blood drive.
South Central Regional Medical Center will host a blood drive with UBS Thursday.
