Mini mart, armed robbery

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - One local mini mart was robbed Friday evening.

The store clerk said he was in the process of closing up the store.

The clerk was stacking cigarettes behind the cash register and noticed two men approaching him.

According to the clerk, one of the suspects showed a gun and demanded cash. The suspects took nearly $1,000 from the cash register and ran from the store.

Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "Two black male subjects came in. One had a cover over his face, the other did not. They did display a weapon and fled the scene back towards Vickers Circle. The clerk did actually follow and was able to get more of a description. We're following up on some leads. We had some witnesses in the neighborhood also, so they gave us some information that we're trying to follow-up on. "
