HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Recent reports of armed robberies have been a concern to some people.
One local mini mart franchise has not had any robbery incidents in the past and is doing its best to keep it that way.
With Dandy Dan’s, Ashley Mozingo said, "Safety is always the top most concern for us here at Dandy Dan's. One of our main purposes with our security is making sure everything is recorded and documented."
Mozingo said the company provides state of the art technology to help with security purposes.
"We have state of the art camera equipment. We have lighting. We have even voice security systems, the motion detectors," said Mozingo.
But, that's not all.
"Employees are equipped with a behind the counter button, that is a silent button that they can immediately push and tells the police that there's trouble, and which the police are really good about the response time," said Mozingo.
If a robbery incident occurs, police want people to be safe and to not do anything that may risk their life.
Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "Be the best witness you can be. Try to get as much information description that you can get on the suspect. Give that to police as soon as you can make that call."
Mozingo said "I understand they cannot be everywhere all the time and they do a really good job and I would just ask them to continue doing that. And I think it's a community effort as well."
Traxler said the Hattiesburg Police Department will come to people’s businesses for free to provide security tips.
