JONES COUNTY, Miss. - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

On August 7, 2016, Jones County Deputies were dispatched to Dale Keys Road in reference to caller who saw a suspicious vehicle. The caller said the vehicle matched the description of a stolen Chevy Silverado that had been seen on Facebook.

The caller got the tag number and when the deputy checked, did not match the type of vehicle it was on.

When the deputy arrived to Dale Keys Road, the vehicle was no longer there. As the deputy continued to patrol adjacent roads, it came across the truck matching the description and the tag number.

A traffic stop was initiated near Soso Big Creek Road. Jeremy Palmer, 32 of Petal, was the driver of the vehicle. When asked, Palmer told the deputy the vehicle wasn’t his, it belonged to a friend of his.

An on site investigation determined the vehicle was registered to someone entirely different and was reported stolen from Forrest County.

Palmer was taken into custody and transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center. He was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, a felony.

His bond was set at $15,000.
