Laurel crime rate decreases

LAUREL, Miss. - 2016 is looking solid for the Laurel Police Department.

Statistics show the level of crime rate decreased from 2015.

Laurel Chief of Police, Tyrone Stewart said, "We hope that this trend continues through the remainder of 2016 and into the future. We want to commend the citizens of Laurel. We've gone so far this year with not one homicide. Not one homicide. With everything been going on across our great nation, I'll put our statistics up against anybody in the country."

Stewart also said he appreciates the citizens of Laurel for the decrease in crime.
