Meth found in cereal box in Jones county

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

On August 20, 2016 at approximately 11:00pm, Jones County Sheriff’s Narcotics Investigators, along with members of the Jones County SWAT Team, executed a Search Warrant on Herbert Avenue in the City of Laurel.

During the search, Investigators located approximately 115 grams of Methamphetamine located in a box of “Froot Loops” in the kitchen.

Several bags Marijuana, and numerous Ecstasy pills were also located throughout the residence. Robert Pruitt, 39 of Ellisville, was arrested at the residence and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance.

The owner of the residence, Jamie Wheat, 40 of Laurel, was not at the address at the time.

Wheat turned himself in to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department on August 23, 2016. He is charged with Trafficking of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of Controlled Substance (Marijuana) with Intent and Possession of Controlled Substance (Ecstasy) with Intent. All charges are while in Possession of a Firearm.

The approximate street value of the seized narcotics would be over $10,000.

Judge Billie Graham set Wheat’s bond at $20,000 per charge for a total of $60,000.
