Council approves contract to test city's generators

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - During a special called meeting Friday morning council members approved a yearly contract with Chain Electric to guarantee the city's generators work during hurricane season in the Pine Belt.

City Council President Carter Carroll said the council and Mayor Johnny DuPree wanted to approve the annual contract now to ensure the city was covered during tropical storms.

Carroll said, "We went ahead and reappointed Chain Electric to have the service work on our generators, especially with the possibility of a storm coming next week, and we felt like we needed to go ahead and do it."
