HPD is ready for "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day"
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss Athletics will be celebrating "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day" Saturday.
Hattiesburg Chief of Police, Anthony “Stoney” Parker will be the coin flipper.
The families of fallen officers, Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate will be honorary captains at the halftime ceremony.
Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "So that shows support to them and lets them know that they'll never be forgotten. They're going to be family to all of us, to the school, and to the community. It just goes to show the kind of support that law enforcement in the state of Mississippi alone has, despite everything else that may be going on around the country."
Traxler wouldn't give a final score prediction of the game, but said Southern Miss will beat Savannah State.
