LINCOLN COUNTY, Miss. - Three Mississippi Highway Patrol officers were involved in three total wrecks Sunday.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Corporal, Brandon Fortenberry said around 3:48 p.m., one trooper lost control of his car and hit a tree near I-55 in Lincoln County, due to severe weather.

20 minutes later, dispatch lost contact with the trooper and another trooper had to go find him.

The second trooper located the first trooper around 4:22 p.m., and found him unconscious.

There was no medic on scene.

The trooper took matters into his own hands and proceeded to transport the trooper to get medical attention in his own patrol car.

However, the second trooper lost control of his car due to severe weather and crashed.

Both troopers suffered minor injuries.

A Lincoln County deputy responded to the crash and took the injured first trooper to Kings Daughter Hospital, and was eventually transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center.

The trooper was in critical condition, but is now stable.

A third trooper was originally responding to the first wreck, but was involved in another wreck on U.S. Highway 84.

This trooper was not injured.
