Coach Hopson impressed by Troy, says it will be a challenge

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss's next opponent is a team that woke up and shocked the entire country over the weekend.

Troy battled (2) Clemson and nearly pulled off the upset.

Troy's, 30-24 loss to Clemson resonated with the Golden Eagles. This is a team Southern Miss will not be taking lightly.

Head coach, Jay Hopson said, "We already know Troy is an outstanding football team. Kind of just wakes up the entire country. So we understand we got a really good football team coming in."

"The quarterback is an excellent football player. They got really good skill players, not only out wide at receiver, but also in the backfield. I mean that's been proven. They do a great job up front. They're top to bottom a good football team. So when you say challenge, it's a challenge. We know it's a game that we got to prepare hard and we've got to be focused," said Hopson.

Southern Miss will take on the Trojans of Troy Saturday at “The Rock” at 6 p.m.
