Shoplifting incident causes miscommunication

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - An incident Friday morning on James Street near the Hattiesburg Police Department caused various police cars to arrive.

However, there was a little miscommunication between police and a La Libertad employee.

Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "We had a shoplifting call. The way it was originally given out though as a possible armed robbery in progress. So that's why a lot of officers responded. As it turned out though it was just a shoplifting so that's what we wounded up with."

Traxler said the suspect stole multiple items, but won't say what was stolen at this time.
