Public Service Commissioner attends Jones Co. B.O.S meeting


HATTIESBURG, Miss. - This is a press release from the Mississippi Public Service Commission.

Southern District Public Service Commissioner Sam Britton visited the Jones County Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday to discuss the agency’s role in the state with local representatives and the public.

The Public Service Commission (Commission) is responsible for regulating telecommunications, electric, gas, water and sewer utilities ensuring that rates are fair and service is satisfactory as well as helping consumers resolve complaints with their utility providers in a timely manner in accordance with all rules and regulations. The Commission is also tasked with managing the Mississippi No Call List and following up on public complaints against unwanted telemarketing calls.

The main purpose of attending these meetings is to create effective avenues of communication for state and local representatives to more effectively resolve utility issues that the public may have as they arise. Commissioner Britton and the Commission are committed to getting as many people involved as possible to ensure the public is being treated justly and fairly in regard to their utility service.
