Autistic man attacked in Laurel, suspect surrenders


LAUREL, Miss. - A man surrendered himself to Laurel police after he assaulted an autistic male last Tuesday.

Police said Damion Sullivan, 22, turned himself in to authorities Friday.

Authorities said they responded to a laundry service on the 2400 block of North 5th Avenue after the victim reported he was attacked by an unknown person.

Police said the victim was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center (SCRMC) and treated for minor injuries.

Sullivan faces one count of felonious infliction of physical pain or injury upon a vulnerable person.

His bond was set at $5,000.
