Effort is not a problem for the Lady Eagles
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss women's basketball team looks a lot different than last year.
Some players have been removed from the team, but that will not slow down the team’s effort.
Head coach, Joye Lee-McNelis said, "We're going to have to be the "mighty mights." We're going to have to be fast and furious, and that's kind of where we are right now. Our effort has been tremendous. We have not had to coach effort at all. And you know as a coach, that's what you live for."
"Fortunately Coach Kiley Hill, one of my new assistance, has ran the motion offense extensively throughout his career. And we're working diligently and have been all summer to put pieces of that in. So it will be difficult for opponents to scout us. We can spread the floor, open up driving lanes, and use our quickness to the advantage," said Lee-McNelis.
Coach Lee-McNelis said she wants the fans to be patient as the team still needs to master the new system and be effective playing small ball.
