City of Hattiesburg, USM's School of Social Work E3 Health Initiative

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The City of Hattiesburg and USM's School of Social Work held an open house Friday morning to help celebrate the success and sustainability of the city's E3 Health Initiative.

The City of Hattiesburg gave almost $3 million in funding to USM's School of Social Work last year to help support its Health Initiative programs.

Program administrator, Laura Richard said, "Our initiative is Mississippi Health Access Collaborative and it is a navigator grant. So, we have four employees that go out and enroll people in the Affordable Care Act in the 24 southern most counties. And the Kid's Health Access Collaborative, an extension of the E3 Health Initiative, is extending what we did with the City of Hattiesburg and the E3 Health Initiative into the nine counties in Public District 8 to help them enroll in Medicaid ship, those who are eligible."

Richard said open enrollment for the Mississippi Health Access Collaborative will begin on Nov. 21.
