HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The City of Hattiesburg will honor Halloween on Monday, Oct. 31. The city encourages families and kids to trick-or-treat between the hours of 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Hattiesburg Police Department Spokesman Lieutenant Jon Traxler said they will add more uniforms on the streets on Halloween to enforce safety.

The department encourages drivers to be extremely mindful as more pedestrians will be on the streets.

Lt. Traxler added, “Take your kids to a well-known neighborhood take it to a neighborhood that you know and of that nature, that way you stay surrounding with your familiar surroundings.”

The department also said to have a designated driver as USM homecoming is on Saturday and to also scan your child's candy before they consume it.
