Southern Miss needs to fix mistakes, create turnovers

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss just came off a 38-27 loss to the Charlotte 49ers.

The offense and defense has been struggling to be consistent over the last month.

And with three games left, the Golden Eagles need to return to their winning ways if they want to get to a conference championship.

Offensive coordinator, Shannon Dawson said, "I don't think it has anything to do with attitude. I think those guys care. I think our guys care as much as I care, as much as everybody cares. It's just make routine plays and not turn the ball over, and we'll probably win the game."

"Definitely need to stop giving up the big play, start creating some turnovers. I think that's another area I think that's huge in the game. What we talk about all the time is to make sure we get the ball back to our offense. Last week, we didn't get any, and the week before, we got one. We just got to do a better job at that," said defensive coordinator, Tony Pecoraro.

The Golden Eagles will play Old Dominion on Saturday and will hope to return to form.
