FORREST COUNTY, Miss. - During Monday's scheduled meeting the Forrest County Board of Supervisors approved to consider bids to install a new solar-power aerator at the lagoon in Brooklyn near the Black Creek surrounding area.
Chris Bowen District 5 Supervisor said, "Black Creek is the only National Scenic and Wild Stream in Mississippi." Bowen said the board wants to do everything they can to keep the creek as clean as possible.
“A solar power aerator would reduce, the amount of money it would cost, each month to operate thus save the district some money down there" added Bowen.
He continued, "so they could do other things with their distribution system for the sewage.”
The board received three bids:
TL Wallace Construction of Columbia at $64,940
Fairley Construction of Petal at $72,413.45
Myers Underground Utilities of Hattiesburg $60,100
Bowen said they will talk with engineers to make a decision. It has 60 days to accept a bid.
