Jones Co. man arrested, aggravated assault

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - On November 8, 2016, Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence on Will Young Road in Ovett. It was reported that Nelson McLain, 40 of Moselle, was on the property causing a disturbance. McLain had left the address just prior to the deputy’s arrival. It was reported by Charles East, owner of the residence, and father to McLain’s wife, that when he returned to his home in the morning he found McLain in the house with a shotgun pointed at Mr. East. East grabbed the gun and managed to get it from McLain. It was then McLain went to his truck and left the scene. East realized the shotgun he had grabbed from McLain was actually owned by East.
Jones County Sheriff’s Investigators were notified of the incident and immediately began tracking McLain. McLain’s mother soon contacted the Sheriff’s Department stating his truck was at her home in Moselle and he was believed to be in a wooded area nearby. Investigators were able to make contact with McLain by phone and talk him into coming back to the home.
McLain was taken custody and charged with Aggravated Assault and Burglary. His initial appearance is scheduled for November 9, 2016,
