Pedestrian struck and killed on U.S. Highway 49, victim identified

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on U.S. Highway 49 Northbound near Taylor Road Monday evening.

Forrest county coroner, Lisa Klem, identified the victim as Taffie Davis, 57, of Dixie.

According to Klem, the call came in around 6 p.m. and Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. "David died from blunt force trauma" said Klem.

Klem stated the driver did stop, but does not know if charges are being filed.

The Hattiesburg Police Department is investigating the accident said Klem.
