State plan, college degrees

JACKSON, Miss. - State education leaders announced a plan Thursday night that will encourage people who never graduated to go back to school and get their degree.

Officials said 67,000 Mississippians who never graduated may have completed and passed enough courses to get their degrees.

The state plans to use federal workforce money and grants to help pay for the cost.

Officials said they will focus on awarding degrees without additional coursework.

But, Governor, Phil Bryant said students might have to pay for additional classes.
