Moselle man in jail for sexual battery

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - On November 28, 2016, a Jones County Sheriff’s Investigator met with family members of a juvenile victim and a juvenile witness in reference to a possible sexual battery.

A forensic interview was conducted and revealed the witness had been watching an episode of “Law and Order” with her family and became physically sick and disturbed when the show featured a man keeping girls for the purposes of sexual gratification. She later told family members she had witnessed a family member, Richard Thompson, 47 of Moselle, enter a room she and the victim were sharing during a sleepover and displayed inappropriate behavior as well as inappropriate touching. The victim gave an account of the event to the interviewer as well.

Thompson was taken into custody on December 02, 2016 and charged with two counts of Sexual Battery. His initial appearance is scheduled for December 5, 2016 at 1:30pm
