Perry county law enforcement officials take low-income kids Christmas shopping

PERRY COUNTY, Miss. - Perry county law enforcement officials helped 8 kids get into the Christmas spirit this season.

Deputies and police officers chose eight elementary kids from Beaumont, New Augusta, Runnelstown, and Richton and bought them gifts for Christmas.

Sheriff Mitch Nobles said, "The kids come from low income families and each child was given a $300 gift card from Fred's Super Dollar store in Richton."

Officials raised money to treat the kids by taking donations from local businesses and citizens.

Fred's allowed the kids to shop tax free. Nobles said it was a heartfelt moment seeing all the kids purchase the presents they wanted.
