City of Hattiesburg hosts 2nd Annual Holiday Stuff-A-Truck
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The city hosted its 2nd Annual Stuff-A-Truck at Kamper Park Wednesday.
It's the time of the year where families open presents and the Public Works Department starts to see leftover wrappings of new Christmas gifts on the curbside.
The city said the event is a way for neighbors to come out and engage in environmentally friendly habits.
The city's Sustainability Manager Nkrumah Frazier said, "When you do not properly dispose, or you just take everything to the landfill, the landfill fills up much quicker, and we ultimately end up running out of space and nobody wants a landfill in their back yard."
"If we recycle as much as much material as possible, it will be better for people, the community, and environment as well" said Frazier.
The city hopes the annual after-Christmas Stuff-A-Truck will continue to grow each year.
