MHP and local law enforcement agencies stop Louisiana armed robbery suspect

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A Thursday afternoon traffic stop on Interstate 59 ended with an armed robbery suspect from Louisiana in custody.

The combined efforts of local law enforcement and the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) landed Nicholas Licciardi, 22, behind bars.

According to MHP Officer Brent Barfield troopers, deputies, and police followed the suspect into an isolated area on I-59.

"Given the nature of the alleged suspect and the nature of the incident he was believed to be involved in, the trooper followed him to the 59 mile marker" said Barfield.

"MHP initiated immediately, pulled right shoulder and took suspect into custody without incident" he added.

Licciardi is sitting in the Forrest county jail where he is awaiting extradition to Louisiana said Barfield.
