Jones Co. home destroyed after accidental house fire

JONES COUNTY, Miss. - On January 23, 2017, Jones County Sheriff’s Department’s Fire Investigator, Sgt. Scott Gable, responded to the Emergency Room of South Central Regional Medical Center, regarding a victim to a house fire. The fire had taken place at the 1700 block of Tucker’s Crossing Road, Ellisville at approximately 1:30pm.

The victim was injured as a result of trying to extinguish a couch that was accidentally set ablaze by a 3 year old who was playing with a cigarette lighter. The victim received significant burn injuries to her hand while trying to get the fire under control. Her attempts were unsuccessful, the home was a total loss.

The incident has been ruled an accident
