Mitch Williams to be honored for his work in the community

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Jesse L. Brown Elks Lodge will have its 18th annual Black History program coming up soon.

This year’s recipient is well-known throughout the community.

Committee chair member, Marshall Bell said, "This year, we're going to honor Mitchell Williams whose one of my first tracksters I had at Southern Miss. And certainty, Mitch has done an outstanding job. Not only as a trackster at Southern Miss, he's done an outstanding job in the community. He goes onto the TV station and does an outstanding job and retired from there. And, now he's with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. And, he's still doing an outstanding job on a daily basis. And with all of that, he's a family man. He's now the pastor of the football team at Southern Miss, and he follows them everywhere they go."

The Black History program will be at the Lake Terrace Convention Center on Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. Jackson State head football coach, Antonio Hughes will be the speaker at the event.

Tickets costs $35 per person.
