Elderly woman assaulted in robbery

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A robbery left one elderly woman hurt.

Police said a male and a female knocked on the woman's door in the 500 Block of Columbia Street on Feb. 2.

When the woman answered the door, the two suspects entered her home and demanded money. The victim told the suspects she had no money, as she was being beaten with a metal pipe and a tree branch.

The suspects ended up stealing assorted medication.The woman was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
