USM student dies in NOLA

NEW ORLEANS - A USM student died Saturday night in New Orleans.

University officials said Cole Whaley, an undergraduate student from Mobile, Ala., and a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity was at an off-campus fraternity function the night he passed away.

Dean of students, Dr. Eddie Holloway said, "We are all saddened by this tragedy, and are reaching out to his family, friends, and loved ones to offer our prayers and support."

Officials have not yet released the cause of his death.
