Boys & Girls Club finds temporary location
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The tornado that struck Hattiesburg damaged The Salvation Army and the Boys & Girls Club attached to it.
The Boys & Girls Club will temporarily be at the old PCS Elementary School located on 3901 Lincoln Road.
Corps officer, Patrick Connelly said, "I'm really excited to have this location particularly because Woodland Presbyterian and United Christian Academy are providing the space to us at no costs. So, that's a tremendous burden that has been relieved. This is extremely beneficial for kids. The statistics show that juvenile crime increases between the hours of 3-7 p.m. And, so if the kids are with us and they're in our care, and they're being poured into, then chances are they're not going to be involved in crime."
Connelly said The Salvation Army and the Boys & Girls Club should reopen between 6-9 months.
If you would like to donate to The Salvation Army, you can write a check and send it to PO Box 1750 Hattiesburg, MS 39403.
