USM's Graduate School makes mistake with acceptance letters
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Potential Southern Miss Graduate School students may have recently received some false emails.
School officials said an automated email was accidentally sent out on March 3 as an error from the Graduate School to those who applied to the Speech Pathology master's degree program.
The letter congratulated the applicants and said they were accepted into the program.
The Speech Pathology master's program only accepts 25 students, but the email was sent to 144 applicants.
Dean of Graduate School, Dr. Karen Coats said they regret the error and are sorry to put an unnecessary distress to students.
