HFD and Mayor DuPree swears in firefighter
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - A firefighter received another warm welcome from the city of Hattiesburg and his peers Wednesday at City Hall.
Tony Robbins was sworn in the second time by Mayor Johnny DuPree. Robbins said he is excited to work with his fellow peers again.
"I am happy to be here, it took awhile to come back, but I am glad to be here again" Robbins said.
The Hattiesburg Fire Department has 91 firefighters on staff with Robbins rejoining. Fire Chief Paul Presley said, "If it feels great to come back, he has been gone for about a year and a half."
He added, "He is a rehire, and of course last week we had another rehire, so some of our good guys are coming back."
HFD will add 10 more firefighters in the near future. The department will have 101 firefighters on staff this year.
