USM's Dr. Katherine Nugent inducted into the Mississippi Nurses' Association Hall of Fame
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - One Southern Miss faculty member received statewide honors.
Dr. Katherine Nugent, Dean of the College of Nursing recently was inducted into the Mississippi Nurses' Association Hall of Fame.
Nugent became a nurse in 1970 and joined USM as the School of Nursing Director in 2004.
Her experience and success made the Mississippi Nurses' Association job a tad bit easier when it came to picking her.
"It is truly a wonderful feeling to be valued and inducted into the Hall of Fame by peers, nurses that your colleagues with. It's one of the best feelings. I feel honored, privileged, and surprised. One person by themselves cannot do things that would receive this type of honor. It takes people supporting them, working with them, believing in the mission, the vision, and the passion," said Nugent.
Nugent also said she thanks Southern Miss, the faculty who work there, the healthcare agencies, and the clinical supporters for all of their help.
