JCJC's Franklin, Robbins named NJCAA Players of the Week

ELLISVILLE, Miss. - The Jones County Junior College baseball team continues to receive national recognition. Fred Franklin (West Lauderdale) and Logan Robbins (George County) have been named the NJCAA Division II Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. They received the MACJC Player of the Week honors earlier in the week.
Franklin, a sophomore centerfielder, shined for the Bobcats on March 18 vs. No. 14 East Mississippi.
In an 8-5 win over the Lions, he was 5-for-6 with a home run, double and three singles. His three-run home run tied the game at 5-5 in the fifth inning. He then went 3-for-3 with three singles as the Bobcats completed the sweep with a 3-1 victory.
For the week, he was 8-for-9 (an .888 batting average) with four runs scored.
For the season, Franklin is batting .417 with two home runs and 13 RBIs. He leads the team in runs scored with 33 and has played errorless ball in the outfield.
Robbins allowed a home run to the first batter of the game and proceeded to pitch six innings, allow no more runs on six hits, walk one and strike out 11. He had a no-decision in JCJC’s 3-1 victory over EMCC.
For the season, Robbins is 5-0 with a 2.10 ERA. He has 47 strikeouts in 30 innings, has allowed only 26 hits and walked seven.
Franklin has signed with Southern Miss and Robbins has signed with Louisiana Tech.
The 22-0 Bobcats visit Northwest at 2 p.m. Saturday.
