3 JCJC softball players sign with local universities

ELLISVILLE, Miss. - The JCJC softball team is enjoying a (37-1) overall record this season.

The team’s hard work has been paying off, and the talent is second to none.

Three Bobcats signed their letter of intent Wednesday to continue playing the game they love.

Shortstop, Cori McCrary and right-fielder, Brittany Hagwood singed with William Carey. Third baseman, Kelly Byrd signed with Delta State.

McCrary said "I like the area of Hattiesburg and I want to stay here. So, two more years here and that's where I want to be. And, it's a good school. I like it there."

"They're a great team and they always do things together like at Jones. And, I would like to be a part of that," said Hagwood.

Byrd said "I'm going into coaching and secondary education, and they have one of the best programs for that. And, their softball team is good. So, I hope to contribute and help them win for the next two years."

McCrary is batting a .398 and also leads the team in stolen bases with 28. Hagwood scored 28 runs so far this season and has stolen seven bases. Byrd leads Region 23 and the state with a .523 batting average, 14 home runs, and 63 RBIs.
